Mandatory Credit: Tommy Gilligan-Imagn Images Navy star quarterback Blake Horvath left during the second half of a home game against No. 24 South Florida on Saturday with an apparent leg injury.
With his team ahead 24-16, Horvath ran a quarterback keeper to the right end and gained a first down on fourth-and-3. He was untouched as he jogged out of bounds but then sat on the ground and called for help from the athletic training staff.
Trainers were seen stretching out his right leg, and Horvath was able to leave the field under his own power. Braxton Woodson took over for Horvath.
Horvath returned on the next possession after working on the exercise bike, but after leading a Navy drive for a field goal, he was replaced by Woodson again early in the fourth quarter. Woodson wound up running for a crucial 20-yard touchdown.
Horvath missed last week's 49-10 loss to Notre Dame with an upper-body injury but returned to make the start Saturday. Woodson manned the QB position against Notre Dame.
Entering the week, Horvath was tied for third in the country with 13 rushing touchdowns. He'd also thrown for 1,143 yards, seven touchdowns and five interceptions through his first eight games.
